Not only do pickles and chutneys add flavor, but they also add texture and zing to any meal. Here are five popular Indian pickles you must try!
1) Achar Gosht
One of the most popular dishes in India, as well as Pakistani cuisine, is achar gosht, which is a type of curry with a sour and spicy flavor. The dish consists of chopped meat, red onions, tomatoes, lemons, coriander leaves, green chilies, and fresh garlic. It also typically includes tamarind paste and vinegar. This dish is often served with rice or roti bread. Although it has been around for many centuries, there are different stories about where this particular dish originated. Some say it was invented by Punjabi cooks at the Royal Kitchen in Lahore, Pakistan; others claim it came from Sindh or Gujarat region in Western India. What we do know is that it’s common to find this dish on almost any restaurant menu across Pakistan and India!
2) Mango Pickle
