A carrom board is a classic indoor board game that originated in India and has gained popularity worldwide. It is a two-player or four-player game that combines elements of billiards, shuffleboard, and table hockey. The game is typically played on a square wooden board that has a smooth surface and four pockets in the corners. The objective of carrom is to pocket all your pieces (also known as carrom men) into the pockets before your opponent does.

The carrom board itself is usually made of plywood or other hardwoods and is often coated with a fine layer of boric powder to reduce friction and make the pieces slide smoothly. The board is marked with a circle in the center, known as the "queen" circle, and lines that divide it into four quadrants. Each player or team has nine carrom men of a distinct color, and there are one or more striker discs.

To play, participants take turns flicking the striker disc with their fingers, aiming to hit their carrom men and pot them into the pockets. The queen is a crucial piece as it must be pocketed after sinking one of your carrom men; failing to do so results in a penalty. Players continue taking turns until all their carrom men are pocketed or until a predetermined point limit is reached.

Carrom requires skill, precision, and strategy. Players must carefully plan their shots, consider angles, and utilize various techniques to win. It is a game that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and skill levels, making it a popular choice for family gatherings and social events.

In addition to being a recreational pastime, carrom is also played competitively in tournaments worldwide, with dedicated enthusiasts and professional players honing their skills to master this captivating board game. It fosters camaraderie, improves hand-eye coordination, and provides hours of wholesome entertainment, making the carrom board a cherished addition to game rooms and households around the globe.
