TSF Copra or dried coconut is a versatile agricultural product derived from the fruit of the coconut palm. Copra production involves the extraction and drying of the white flesh, or meat, of the coconut kernel. The process begins with the harvesting of mature coconuts. The outer husk is removed, revealing the hard shell, and the coconut is cracked open. The white flesh is carefully separated from the shell and the brown skin, and it is then dried through various methods. Sun drying is the traditional and most common method. Slices or shreds of coconut meat are spread out in the sun, allowing them to dehydrate naturally. This process can take several days and requires regular turning of the copra to ensure even drying. In some regions, copra is also dried using smoke, hot air, or kilns, which can be more efficient but may affect the quality of the final product.
TSF Copra can be consumed in various culinary dishes, such as snacks, desserts, and curries. It is also used in the production of desiccated coconut, which is popular in baking and confectionery. Furthermore, copra meal, a byproduct of oil extraction, is utilized as animal feed.
